Child Development Associate Training

The Child Development Associate Training program allows students to study the complexities of caring for children while also earning a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification. It also helps to prepare students for earning the CDA credential by providing them with the required 120 hours of professional development.

A wide range of topics are covered in this course. Students begin by learning about the business aspects of childcare facilities. They then move on to studying the fundamentals behind establishing relationships with parents and creating a secure environment. Students also learn about stages of development, academic and enrichment activities and conflict resolution.

This is an open enrollment program. Students may begin at any time. They work at their own pace and on their own schedules. Students must complete all coursework within six months to earn the certification of completion. Students have the option to finish more quickly depending on how fast they can work through the courses.

There are no prerequisites for the Child Development Associate Training program. However, it is recommended that students have a high school diploma or equivalency. Students must have access to a computer with internet and email. No special software is required other than Adobe Flash Player and Acrobat Reader.
