Administrative Professionals must have a thorough knowledge of computing programs that are integral in the functioning of a modern office. The majority of these offices use Microsoft Office. An Administrative Professional with Microsoft Office Specialist Certification proves to be an asset to the workforce.
The Administrative Professional with Microsoft Office Specialist 2016 program covers the five central Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access. Each of these programs have unique abilities to aid the workplace. They also each have many more components than meets the eye. The student who takes this course will learn both basic and advanced techniques for each program.
Students learn through experience. Courses include reading materials, watching video presentations and conducting hands-on exercises. Students do need to have access to a PC with the complete Microsoft Office suite.
This course is self-paced, but students must complete all coursework within six months of registration. Once the coursework is completed, students can take the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification exams in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access. The fees for these exams are included with the course.
Along with gaining knowledge about Microsoft products, students learn about other aspects of the workplace. Other skills covered include time management, ethics in the workplace, effective communication, record keeping, event and travel planning and job search skills.
There are no specific prerequisites for this program. However, students should already have a familiarity with computing and file management.
